[전문]오바마 "韓과 사드 배치 논의중" 공식 확인

北 미사일 발사에 "예상됐던 일…對美 공격 막기 위해 사드 필요"

버락 오바마 미국 대통령이 한국 정부와 사드 배치 문제를 협의중이라고 공식 확인해 논의가 급물살을 탈지 주목된다. 오바마 대통령은 8일(현지시간) 미국 CBS 방송과 인터뷰에서 "북한의 미사일 발사는 예상됐던 일"이라며 놀라울 게 없다면서도 "그들(북한)은 무기 개발에 엄청난 자본을 투자하고 있다"고 진단, "북한의 공격이 미국에까지 도달할 가능성을 막기 위해 한국과 (사드 배치에 관한 내용을) 협의중"이라고 말했다. 아래는 오바마 대통령의 발언 전문.

"I think we have been concerned about North Korea's behavior for a while, This is an authoritarian regime. It's provocative. It has repeatedly violated U.N. resolutions, tested and produced nuclear weapons and now they are trying to perfect their missile launch system. ... I spoke with President Xi of China just a few days before this launch about the need to really tighten the noose on them. But what we're also doing is consulting with the South Koreans for the first time about more missile defense capabilities to prevent any possibility that North Korea could reach U.S. facilities or U.S. populations."

"This is something that we have anticipated. We have seen a pattern of behavior over them, They are not very good at feeding their people, but they invest a huge amount in their weapons systems."
